What is a Patient Participation Group?
Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) are made up of patient volunteers who are interested in health and healthcare issues and want to make a positive contribution to services and facilities for patients. PPGs offer a valuable opportunity for patients to meet with Practice staff to discuss local developments, patient experiences, and healthcare provision in the community.
As Middlewood Partnership has surgeries in three separate villages, patients of Bollington, Disley, and Poynton are each supported by their own PPG. Groups meet 3-4 times per year and headed by a Chairperson, who leads the meetings and helps coordinate local activities.
The PPG aims to:
- Promote effective relationships between the Practice and patients
- Gather feedback from patients to share with the Partnership
- Come together with Practice staff and community health workers to help improve local services
- Share information from the Partnership and PPG meetings with local communities
Membership
PPGs are are open to all registered patients of The Middlewood Partnership (aged 16 or over) and their carers.
Each Chairperson is elected by the members of their PPG, and will serve in the role for a period of one year. The same member may act as Chairperson for any number of years (should they wish), so long as they continue to elected by the members of their group.
How to Get Involved
If you’d like to help your local community by joining the PPG -it’s easy to get involved- just fill in the form below!
Your details will be shared with the Chairperson of your local PPG, who will then contact you about joining the next group meeting.

PPG Chairs Meetings
In addition to the usual PPG meetings, the PPG Chairpersons are invited to a separate meeting where they are joined by senior members of the Practice. These meetings are known as ‘PPG Chairs Meetings’ and are held once per quarter.
PPG Chairs Meetings give the Chairpersons an opportunity to come together and share feedback on their group’s activities, discuss recent developments and collaborate on future plans. Other PPG members are invited to attend upon special request – if you would like to join a PPG Chairs Meeting, please discuss this with your Chairperson.
