Urgent Appointments

If you log a request that is of an urgent nature, we will do our upmost to deal with the issue the same working day, however we do have a finite capacity for urgent care and on occasion we may need to signpost you to alternative services if they are more appropriate. If you inform us of an urgent health issue late in the day, please be aware that we may not be able to arrange an appointment for you until the next working day.

Do not call the surgery for medical emergencies. You should instead call 999 or go to your nearest A&E.

Medical emergencies that should be seen in A&E include:

• Signs of a heart attack: pain like a very tight band, heavy weight or squeezing in the centre of your chest
• Signs of a stroke: face drooping on one side, cannot hold both arms up, difficulty speaking
• Difficulty breathing: including choking, gasping or sudden swelling of the mouth, tongue or throat
• Fits or seizures that are not stopping: shaking or jerking
• Loss of consciousness: black outs and cannot be woken up
• Severe chest pain
• Bleeding that cannot be stopped: spraying, pouring or enough to make a puddle

Online booking and consultations

You can use PATCHS to arrange both a traditional face to face or telephone appointment, and to consult with us online. Every PATCHS request is reviewed by a trained member of staff and clinician.

To ensure we’re able to respond to every request in a safe and timely manner, we need to ensure we’re not overwhelmed at peak times. Therefore, we have to occasionally limit the number of online requests we can safely deal with each day, dependent on the number of GPs we have available. This will mean PATCHS will occasionally not accept new requests.

When you have logged your request with us via, we will review your request and you will receive a response within two working days.

If PATCHS is not available, please phone us on the numbers above between 8:00am and 6:30pm.

It may also be worth taking a look at our Self care & support section – our GPs have put together lots of useful information about common ailments – it may be that you can find the information there to help yourself or a family member.
