Update on Mounjaro Prescriptions

You may have seen recent news that GPs are now able to prescribe a new medication called Mounjaro® (Tirzepatide) to support weight management. While this is correct, we would like to clarify the current situation and eligibility requirements, as set out by Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Access to Mounjaro® is being rolled out in phases, and at this stage it is only available to a very specific group of patients who meet strict national criteria.
At present it hasn’t been decided who will do the prescribing and we are therefore unable to prescribe Mounjaro at Middlewood at this time. We will update when this changes, and we please ask that patients do not contact the Practice to ask if they are eligible.
Who will be eligible when a decision is made?
