We are unable to provide treatment or advice for dental problems at the practice. Unfortunately, GPs are not trained or equipped to deal with dental issues, including dental pain, infections, or broken teeth.
If you require dental care, you need to contact a dental practice. Some dental practices offer both NHS and private appointments.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
If you require urgent dental treatment, you should call NHS 111. The 111 service will assess your needs and help arrange an emergency appointment at an NHS dental practice if appropriate.
Examples of urgent dental problems include:
-
Severe dental pain not relieved by painkillers
-
A dental abscess or swelling of the face
-
Bleeding following a tooth extraction that won’t stop
-
Trauma to the teeth or mouth
Please do not contact the GP practice for dental issues — we won’t be able to offer any treatment or make a referral. NHS 111 is the correct route for emergency dental care.
For routine dental care, including check-ups, cleanings, and planned treatments, please contact your regular dental practice. If you do not have a dental practice, you can use the NHS Find a dentist tool here.
