Why aren’t you bringing me down to the surgery when you normally would?

General practice across the country are working towards a total triage service and avoiding face to face contact whenever possible and we are no different. Face to face examinations pose risk both to the clinician and the patient as we are very aware that potentially quite a high number of coronavirus infections don’t cause any symptoms. This is the reason for social isolation. We need to make to sure that we don’t pass an infection which a member of staff may be carrying onto you and vice versa.

We have to be at work and seeing patients and so are unable to undertake the strict social isolation which you are being asked to do. This put us more at risk but also increases risk of transmission to yourselves from us in theory.

If an examination is necessary then we will bring you down but if we possibly can we will do our best not to bring you to the surgery.

If you have a face to face appointment and you feel you don’t need to come in then please contact us and we will do everything we can to deal with you remotely.
