Successful Start to the Middlewood Covid Vaccination Programme
A Message from the Middlewood Partners
We would like to say a big thank you to our Middlewood community for your patience and support in helping us to provide Covid vaccinations to the most vulnerable members of our community in the first of our Middlewood Covid vaccination clinics this week.
On Friday and Saturday Poynton Town Council kindly allowed us to use their premises to run clinics in a safe, efficient way, enabling 1132 patients to be vaccinated.
Over the last two days we have heard so many patient stories and experiences that highlighted the importance of receiving this vaccination and what it means to each and every individual. The staff who worked in the clinics, and behind the scenes making appointments and organising, feel privileged to be part of this important programme and would like to thank you for all the kind words and positive feedback you have provided.
This is a real community effort and across Middlewood we know the importance of all ‘doing our bit’ to deliver this programme. Big thank you to the volunteers from Poynton Runners and Churches Together in Poynton and to Sharon Duke, community coordinator with Poynton Town Council, who all did a brilliant job of marshalling in the car park in both freezing cold and wet weather. We could not have delivered this programme without the help and support of the many relatives, friends, community organisations and other volunteers who have been providing transport to get many of our frailest residents to these clinics. Thank you to Disley Parish Council and their volunteer driver and bus bringing people who otherwise couldn’t easily have made it to the clinic. Vaccinating many of our patients would not be possible without ALL your support – Thank you!
We know that this is just the start of our vaccination clinic programme and we will be continuing to review all our processes and procedures to ensure that they continue to be as safe and efficient as possible for all involved. Over the coming weeks we will be inviting patients from within the identified cohorts to the vaccination clinics. Thanks to Poynton Town Council’s ongoing support these clinics will continue to be at the Poynton Civic Centre. If possible please book via the text message link that you will be sent. If you do not have a mobile phone please do not worry, we will contact you.
Please do not contact our surgeries regarding vaccination appointments. Thank you for your patience.
Once again can we ask you to bear with us during this extremely busy time and wherever possible and appropriate remember to use self-care and your local pharmacy team to deal with any minor illness.
