Middlewood achieves the highest rate of flu vaccination in Cheshire
We are extremely proud of our team’s performance in achieving the national target of 75% of eligible patients vaccinated before any other Primary Care Network in Cheshire. This year has been particularly challenging organising socially distanced clinics; we would like to thank Bollington, Disley, and Poynton town councils for their support in this by allowing us to use their facilities.
We also have hundreds of housebound patients and over 500 patients in nursing and care homes who have been visited by our practice nurses, some of whom have really gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure these most vulnerable patients received the flu vaccine. In addition, as they do every year, the Team BDP District Nurses have been instrumental in delivering vaccinations in the community making this a true team effort.
To date, we have delivered almost 7500 flu and over 500 pneumonia vaccinations since September 1st. In the coming weeks, we will be offering the flu vaccine for the first time to all patients over the age of 50 (around a further 5000 patients), further details will be available soon. We have the mammoth task ahead of delivering tens of thousands of COVID-19 vaccines. We will be following strict national guidelines about the order of prioritisation for inviting patients. But we are confident our team will rise to the occasion as they have over the past weeks.
