Spot the difference?

We have started our programme for the delivery of the second doses of the covid-19 vaccinations and will be contacting everyone who we administered their first dose over the coming months. Whilst debates continues in some quarters over the rollout of the covid-19 vaccines, there it almost universal agreement that a second dose of the currently available vaccines is the required to offer effective protection.  Hence, the only really meaningful difference between the photographs, is that the residents of the care home from the March image have now had their second vaccination.  Over the next couple of weeks, their protection against covid-19 infection will be as effective as current scientific evidence allows.

So, as we embark on administering the second doses of the vaccination to our eligible registered population we again ask for your support:

  • The reality is that we are only just past halfway in providing adequate protection to cohorts 1 to 9. We will endeavor to administer the second dose with all the enthusiasm, energy, and efficiency that came with the excitement of the first wave – your reciprocation again will be very much appreciated and welcomed!
  • Please do attend when invited for your second dose – a second dose is currently the only evidence-based strategy to providing adequate protection.
  • Please do not contact us regarding your second dose appointment. We hold precise records of who had their first vaccination when and will contact you when it is your turn – again according to the strict government criteria.  We are being told that vaccine supply will be sufficient for all our second doses within the 12-week window. However, the precise timing will again be wholly dependent on the arrival of the consignments of vaccines to our centre – again, unfortunately, and frustratingly we will have no control over delivery dates or quantities of vaccines.

The vaccination programme both locally and nationally is making a difference – let’s keep going and look forward to a more settled and liberated summer.

Best wishes
