Cheshire Training Hub

Middlewood are the proud joint hosts of the Cheshire Training Hub which supports GP practices across the whole of Cheshire with education, training and workforce development in Primary Care . The Training Hub currently employs a Training Hub Manager, Project Manager, Training Coordinator and a Placement Development Lead who all work together to provide quality student placements, training opportunities and develop new and exciting career pathways in Primary Care.

Health Education England explain that training hubs are designed to meet the educational needs of the multi-disciplinary primary care team, and bring together NHS organisations, community providers and local authorities. This will provide a much broader education than the traditional single professional approach and will also support workforce planning.

The Cheshire Training Hub currently supports all general practices with the placement and development of:

  • Student Nurses
  • Physician Associate students
  • Paramedic students
  • Pharmacy students
  • Work Experience
  • Apprenticeships

Our Training Hub provides support for students, educators and education providers along with quality assuring all of our placements to deliver an effective learning environment.

The Training Hub works hard to ensure placement development is a smooth process for practices and educational supervisors by offering remote, face to face and administrative support at every step of the way.

We are also an associate member of the Cheshire and Merseyside Training Hub (Primary Care Academy) which is a collaborative of the five locality Training Hubs across the region and works closely with our neighbouring hubs across the North West.

Through our regional work we offer education and learning opportunities to current and future workforce by providing funding for Continual Professional Development (CPD); working with hospital Trusts to share apprenticeship levy and further increase the number of apprenticeships in primary and community care; delivering education programmes to support Clinical Supervision and New to Practice GPs and Nurses.

Some feedback from our Physician Associated Placements in Middlewood Practices:

Just to say thank you very much for welcoming me back for another great placement. I hope I am lucky enough to work with you all again.

Thank you all so much for such a wonderful placement here. These 8 weeks have absolutely flown by which is testament to how great you’ve been and how much I’ve enjoyed being here. Everyone has been so welcoming and taken so much of their time to teach me all about how to look after patients in primary care and I’m so grateful to you all. Also a massive thank you for including me in the pasta making fun! Such a fun evening!
